The Sound of Things to Come- The Sound Agency helps EDS to Create Box of Delights - EDS has briefed The Sound Agency to create and install a range of groundbreaking sound for the Box, a space for innovative meeting and thinking created jointly by EDS and the London School of Economics. The Box has many attention-grabbing features, and its centrepiece is its Cabinet of Curiosities, a museum-style display of artefacts that reflect and stimulate diverse and creative thinking. The Sound Agency has commissioned renowned sound artist Mileece to create two pieces of generative music: one installed in the Cabinet, which is 'played' by visitors to the Box; and one for the whole room, which is 'played' by plants! Mileece has also created calming music for the lift lobby. The Sound Agency has designed and installed more than 30 sound effects, triggered by Cabinet users and delivered through hidden hypersonic speakers, which project a tightly focused bean of sound. The birdsong-based soundscape for the whole Box is also generative - ever changing and composed on the fly by computer. And for the cue sounds for working days The Sound Agency commissioned Jamuud from seminal ambient ethno techno band Loop Guru. The Sound Agency's Chairman, Julian Treasure, comments: "We have been both challenged and excited to design and install some groundbreaking sound in the Box. Most of this has never been done before! This is truly an exceptional project which really demonstrates how sound can be used for a positive result." The Box's President, Lewis Pinault, said: "We are very excited about this partnership. Sound is an important element of working space and we are delighted to be leading the way by designing an intentional soundscape that will enhance all our goals for The Box." About The Sound Agency Julian Treasure sold Just Customer Communication to Interpublic in 2002, having formed the company in 1988 and established it as one of the UK's leading contract publishing operations. Treasure was a director of the Periodical Publishers Association from 1995-2003; the launch chairman of the UK Digital Content Forum in 1999, and chairman of the Association of Publishing Agencies from 1995-97 and of PPAinteractive from 1999-2001. In 2002 the PPA recognised his contribution to the publishing industry by giving him its Chairman's Award. About EDS
